## Transcript

A Southwest Airlines flight from Chicago landed at the wrong airport Sunday night. The plane was headed for the Taney County airport in Branson, Missouri, but instead landed 9 miles away at a runway about half the size. The pilot has managed to stop the jet just in time to prevent it from tumbling over a cliff and onto a highway. After the landing, one passenger tweeted, " The mood is somber now that we realized we were 40 feet from the edge of a cliff ". In a statement a Southwest spokesman calls the landing uneventful and says all customers and crews are safe, but passengers paint a different picture.

>> We're down like a really rough landing. We were all like moving pretty close to the seats as we were landing.

>> We all lurched toward and we break for a sustained amount of time and you could smell the burnt rubber of the tires.

>> The 124 passengers on board the flight along with their baggage were bussed to the correct airport. Southwest offered everyone a $ 200 travel voucher for the mistake. KY3 reports getting such a large aircraft back up in the air will be challenging. The plane was expected to take off Monday. This isn't the first plane to make this mistake recently. A cargo jet landed at an airport not equipped to handle such a large load in Kansas last November. The mislanding set passengers back about two hours from the original landing time. DFAA and NTSB have launched an investigation. For Time, I'm Cliff Judy.
