## Transcript

Procter and Gamble says it plans to sell its Duracell brand and split it into a standalone company. P & G announced its plans to reduce its number of products in August, promising to divest up to 100 brands in the next two years. This all comes just as the company announced Melanie Healey P & G North American Group president, is retiring. Healey runs P & G's largest division, which is valued at about $ 32. 1 billion. Her departure comes as a surprise to some as she was thought to be a potential CEO candidate. As far as the slim down, it's a effort by the company's CEO A. G. Lafley to focus on new product ideas and get rid of slow selling product brands.

Amid the split, shareholders will likely be given the option of exchanging their P & G shares for Duracell shares. Duracell is expected to be independent in late 2015.
