## Transcript

Turns out love won't keep them together. 70s singing duo, the Captain & Tennille have announced they're getting a divorce after 39 years of marriage. RumorFix broke the story, 73- year- old Cathryn Antoinette Tennille filed for divorce from 71- year- old Daryl Dragon on January 16th in Arizona. A statement seemingly posted by Tennille's, the duo's website cryptically explained the split saying people naturally evolved overtime and sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered. TMZ spoke with Dragon who seemed blindsided by the split. He told the site, " I don't know why she filed. I gotta figure it out for myself first ." The couple met in 1972 when Dragon was touring with the Beach Boys as a keyboardist.

Tennille joined the tour as an additional keyboardist. The couple released their first album together in 1974 and produced many hits over the years, like Love Will Keep Us Together, Do That to Me One More Time, and Muskrat Love. And after they tied the knot in 1975, Tennille and Dragon hosted a self- titled variety show for ABC. But the duo hasn't released any new material since 2007 and there is a reason. In 2010, Tennille revealed on her blog that Dragon was suffering from a neurological condition similar to Parkinson's that causes him to have severe tremors, which make it nearly impossible for him to play the keyboard.

The duo is reportedly still living together, but do not have any children. For TIME, I'm Brice Sander.
