The consumer price index fell 0. 1 % in August. The Labor Department uses the consumer price index to measure shifts in costs, including how much people pay for goods and services. The biggest contributor to the index fall, gas prices, they dropped 4. 1 % in August, which is the largest drop since January. Another factor that's leaving your wallet a little fatter this month Energy costs. They fell 2 % in a month, marking the largest decrease since January. There is a chance inflation could change and we could see another shift in prices. The Federal Reserve will consider raising interest rates this week.
