This's Stratton And I'm Hugo Martin And we're here at id software to tell you how excited we are about bringing Doom to the Nintendo Switch . >> It's an action first person shooter, action with like a capital A . >> A- C- T- I- O- N . >> Yes. It's very fun. I mean it's kind of an Arcadia experience. Our mantra when we were developing it was to remove his Really all the barriers between the player and the combat. That's why they're buying Doom is to kill demons. So we're really excited for fans of the game, who've played it on other platforms. But for new people coming to it for the first time playing it on the Nintendo Switch, we really think it's just gonna be a great experience for them. [ MUSIC ] Nintendo Switch fans can look forward to getting the entire campaign, all of the difficulty modes, including Ultra Nightmare mode, which is a really fun way to play the game. You're using only one life. [ SOUND ] So if you're into that sort of abuse, [ LAUGH ] It's there for you. Very difficult, though. You get Arcade mode, which is [ SOUND ] Being able to replay the entire game, all of the levels with all of the upgraded weapons and rooms. But in a kind of time and score attack mode. It's not a narrative heavy game, I'd say. But the narrative is definitely there. If you want to read up on stuff and learn more about the story you can it's there. It's there for those to look for. But we felt like the primary audience just wanted to destroy demons by the hundreds so that's pretty much what we let you do . >> [ MUSIC ] Multiplayer is. Just an awesome part of Doom. We really focus on keeping it fast paced, very action oriented, very competitive. We have 12 modes that you get to play and you get all the DLC content as well with the Doom on the Nintendo Switch. So it's really awesome. If you like team death match you can play that. You can play Capture modes. We have a mode where you're carrying around an eyeball and you're trying to score in the other teams goal. So lots of variation there, and then I think 18 maps total, which is just an immense amount of content. Everything in the game that we released with the initial plus all the DLC. [ MUSIC ] We knew we had a very scalable engine. If you kind of look at analysis that was done of id Tech 6 right after the game came out, most of the kind of technical Sites that evaluated it, talked about how scalable it was and how many options we gave players. And bringing it to the switch we worked with a developer named Panic Button that has a lot of experience with Nintendo hardware. Other kinds of experts on it on the Nintendo Switch. And they basically took that and ran with it and really Really tailored the experience, tailored the tech for that hardware. So without watering anything down, all of our just awesome features like the depth of field and just the fast fluid movement. We did target 30 frames a second cuz we wanted a target that we could confidently hit and know that the gameplay was solid. And fast and fluid at that frame rate. It's really remarkable and visually stunning. We wouldn't put it in people's hands if we weren't proud of it and we didn't think it was the best possible representation of Doom. [ MUSIC ] It was super exciting that we were able to bring doom to the platform. We have our sister studios working on really exciting stuff, the Festigame Studios is bringing Skyrim to the new Nintendo Switch which is just awesome, I mean I can't imagine a better game for the platform, outside of Doom. And also a franchise that is near and dear to our heart, Wolfenstein. Obviously we've made a number of Wolfenstein games as well but Machine Games who is making New Colossus is bringing that to the Nintendo switch in 2018. [ SOUND ] I'm just excited for Doom and Nintendo to be in the same sentence again. My first experience with Doom was Doom 64. And I know I should have played the original PC and all that stuff, but I just wasn't a PC guy in my house. And we didn't have one, and so. As soon as it came out on the 64, a piece of hardware that I love. Getting to play Doom on that was just awesome. It was such an awesome experience. And now all these years later, I was a huge fan of that game. And then all these years later, [ SOUND ] to have it, I'm super excited. We're all super excited. Like he said, I mean, it's Nintendo. You won't find another game like this on the Nintendo Switch right now, which is what I think we're really excited about, is Doom really kind of establishes its own space and has its very own feel, unique feel. And it really is perfect kind of on the go game. You can just play for 20 or 30 minutes We're very happy to announce that you'll be getting your hands on it November 10th. So you'll have it in time for all of those holiday meals at Aunt Esther's house. When you're bored to tears you can go in the corner and fire up your Nintendo Switch and play Doom, and slay demons.
