## Transcript

Anybody who's considering college is facing bills that can run anywhere from a few hundred dollars a year to more than $ 70, 000 a year. So you wanna find an affordable college that really provides you value for your tuition dollar. We evaluated almost 2, 000 colleges on 24 different measures in 3 areas. We measured the quality of the school's education by factors such as graduation rate and faculty workloads. We looked at affordability by looking at the cost of tuition. The generosity of financial aid. The amount families typically borrow and how hard it is for students to pay back their loans.

And we looked at graduate job success as measured by their earnings and job satisfaction Unlike other rankings, Money tries to identify colleges that are out- performing their direct competitors. We use statistical techniques to account for the academic preparation and economic background of the students at each college. Then we see which ones produce more high- earning graduates than is typical for colleges with similar students. When we finished crunching the numbers this year, we ended up with 705 colleges that we think offer at least reasonable value for your money, and we rank them according to what educational experts and surveys indicated are the most important factors.

So the top schools in our rankings have the best overall combination Of quality affordability and graduate success. If you spent a little time now searching for a best value college you spent a lot less time in the future writing big student loan text. [ MUSIC ]
