Republicans accuse the Obama administration of stonewalling the investigation. Democrats claim Republicans are just trying to keep the issue alive before the midterm elections. A lot of people looking in are happy this is finally happening. A lot of people on the other side of the aisle said, you know, we figured it out already. Let the chips fall where they may. Benghazi served as one of the largest Republican criticisms of the White House in recent years. Four died in the September 2012 attack, including US Ambassador Chris Stevens. Originally described as rioting from spontaneous protests, we now know it was a coordinated terror attack the intelligence community failed to predict. Republicans say newly released White House emails reveal more questions. They instructed then US Ambassador to the UN, Susan RIce, to underscore that these protests are rooted in an internet video and not a broader failure of policy. Then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who's under constant rumor of launching a presidential campaign, has taken much of the Benghazi criticism too. As Republicans voted Thursday to establish a new house committee to investigate the attacks, the eighth such investigation, Democrats fired back. They say the National Republican Congressional Committee's website calling for people to donate and become Benghazi watchdogs politicizes the killings. We have to fulfil our over, oversight obligations if it's real. I'm not sure this is real. So far, it looks like it's a campaign stunt to raise money for the Republican National Campaign Committee. Politico notes House Speaker John Boehner dodged several reporters questions on the motivation behind the new committee. The closest Boehner came to answering the question was, our focus is on getting the answers to those families who lost their loved ones, period. Conservative commentator, Charles Krauthammer, wrote an op- ed for the Washington Post saying the committee won't matter unless new, important facts come out. The country deserves the truth. They'll get it if the GOP can keep the proceedings clean, factual and dispassionate. No speeches. No grandstanding. Democrats may boycott the committee, which is made up of seven House Republicans and five Democrats. Thanks for watching.
