## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] I'm Steven James Snyder, a Senior Editor with Time. And this is your summer arts preview. Here are nine things you should be excited to watch. [ MUSIC ] This summer, there's no bigger show than the London Olympics, starting July 27th. The most exciting thing about the 2012 games is the online effort that NBC [ INAUDIBLE ]. All 32 sports will be streaming live on NBColympics. com, meaning the Olympics from television screen to iPad to PC, you can watch it everywhere. [ SOUND ] On the big screen, on of the season's biggest mysteries is Prometheus. [ SOUND ] Alright. Directed by Ridley Scott, what's distinguished this film is the online controversy that's surrounded it.

Some are saying it looks an awful like an prequel to [ UNKNOWN ] earlier film, Alien. [ MUSIC ] Let's say we need to find these beings down there. You won't engage them. You won't talk to them. You'll do nothing but report back to me. Others, including the movie studio, say it has no connection to Alien. [ UNKNOWN ] you're not telling us. All we know is that it's a story about interstellar exploration. That human astronauts wind up on planets, discovering star maps. And all journey together to some final cryptic destination, where monsters may or may not be waiting. [ SOUND ] [ MUSIC ] Prometheus opens June eighth.

On tv, the revival of the hit series Dallas. [ SOUND ] Forget who killed J R, who revived J R. All my life I've been tryin the Ewing name back On top. It's a remake of the 1980s prime time soap opera about the Ewing clan introducing two generations of Ewings. One generation that you might be familiar with. Actors like Patrick Duffy, like Larry Hagman, people from the original series as well as the next younger generation of the clan. [ SOUND ]. Once again, the challenge is the same, get rich. [ INAUDIBLE ] Strike oil again. [ INAUDIBLE ] television. The show premiers June 13 on TNT. When all this is, boys.

[ SOUND ] The movie studio Pixar's back in movie theater with summer ten pole. This time is Brave. [ SOUND ]. It's the studio's first female centered feature, starring a Princess and an archer, on a quest to save her kingdom. I'll be choosing for my own hand. [ SOUND ] More importantly, though, it's a test of whether Pixar can bounce back after last year's disappointing blockbuster, Cars 2. Brave opens June 22nd. [ UNKNOWN ] a registered Republican. I only seem like [ UNKNOWN ] because I believe that hurricanes are caused by high barometric pressure and not gay marriage. After two hit movies, Aaron Sorkin returns to cable with The News Room.

Good afternoon, Mr. President. Al. TV fans last followed Sorkin with the West Wing, but since then He has a couple of big hits in movie theaters. People wanna go on the internet and check out their friend's. Social Network and Moneyball. We're seventh in literacy. Now he returns to HBO with TV oriented drama, the Newsroom. Feature Jeff Daniels as a veteran cable anchor who goes row besides to reinventing his show, his career, his network. When you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don't know what. [ SOUND ] You're talking about. The Newsroom debuts June 24th, HBO. [ MUSIC ] Peter lives with his aunt and uncle.

Speaking of the Social Network, Andrew Garfield returns in a big, big way with the Amazing Spiderman. He's a little bit younger, he has a different love interest, he's battling a different enemy, the Lizard. Will fans show up to see a whole new Spidey? Sony's betting so. It opens on July third, just in time for the big holiday weekend. [ MUSIC ] [ SOUND ] Comedian Louis C. K. is back with" Louie ," which last year we thought was the best show on television. Your skin is all loose and a little dry. And you smell weird. One the other seasons it's been a lot of shows. A show about God, about family, about parenting, about New York City.

Your guess is as good as ours. But one thing's for sure, we'll be watching. [ SOUND ] Louis returns on FX June 28th [ MUSIC ] We've been a little obsessed here at Time over Breaking Bad as over four seasons we've watched Bryan Cranston as Walter White slide deeper and deeper and deeper into his drug empire. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. We wondered just how immoral Walter White had become. Now with the final season five set to return July fifteenth and the second half of the season set to air In 2013, the question might be, can he break good again? Or is he just gonna break apart?

And easily the most anticipated sequel of the year, The Dark Knight Rises. Can Christopher Nolan's third Batman film really trump his second, when Heath Ledger starred as the Joker? [ MUSIC ] The answer probably lies in how devious Tom Hardy can be in The Dark Knight Rises as the enemy Bane. What are you? I'm Gotham's reckoning. [ MUSIC ] And how convincing Anne Hathaway can be as Catwoman. [ MUSIC ] The buzz here is the bleak viral marketing campaign. Could Batman actually be killed by the one character in the comic books who broke his back? [ MUSIC ] Everything. Not yet. And also the fact that this will include more than an hour's worth of extended IMAX footage.

Footage that blows out on the movie screen that makes it larger than life. The Dark Knight, back on screens July 20th. [ SOUND ] [ MUSIC ] Looking at the handful of highlights of what to look for this summer, for our complete summer arts preview, including film, TV, art, books music. Go to time. com / entertainment.
