## Transcript

I love this film, called Jericho Mile. And it relates to this film, actually, relates to Moneyball in the sense that it's a guy, and he's a lifer in prison, and he's a long distance runner. And, clocking him, they, they figure out he can compete with the world's greatest, but they're not going to let him out to compete in the Olympics, and he- is angry about this. He wrestles with this because he, in his mind had been committed to being alive. And then suddenly they dangled his care at a freedom in front of him. And, of course he doesn't get to compete, and he runs it simultaneously, at least in the film.

In his prison track and breaks the record. And it's how it relates to Moneyball, it's that quiet victory. The one that's not splashed across headlines and, and given trophies. I, I have so much respect for that. Anyway, that film came to mind and stuck with me since and it probably is one of the things that led me to this. Listen, it's shameful how little I know about baseball. The baseball is a backdrop for this, this, this book. In fact, they wouldn't have even let me in the Coliseum had they know. I think Billy only just found out how little I know. Again, it was these guys going up against conventional wisdom, these guys asking the question of why do we do the things we do?

Just because we've been doing if for a hundred years, does that make it right for today? You know, like why, why do we have daylight savings time? I don't, somebody tell me, it's a pain in the ass. [ BLANK_AUDIO ]
