There were people pro- Mubarak supporters converging on the square really from breakfast time. -[ Foreign language ] >> And by the time lunch time [ unk ] around, you have thousands of people along the river front of the Nile right by Tahrir Square, converging, pushing to get in to the square, really a prime for an all out battle with the protestors who have been there for nearly 10 days now. Inside the square, I saw a lot of skirmishes that were pro- Mubarak people who were trying to take on some of the protestors and screaming that Mubarak should stay and-- at least until September; that they don't want him to leave right away, which has been the key demand of the protestors. Several of them, I saw, were dragged over to the military and handed over to the soldiers, who would then escort them out of the square. And then by about mid afternoon, I heard warnings from a few Egyptian colleagues that it was really time to retreat as journalists and to stay inside if possible. My balcony actually overlooks exactly the site where the big battles began, and from there, I witnessed the start of how these really bloody clashes commenced. You had thousands of pro- Mubarak people who were separated by just about 50 feet of vacant space that [ unk ] like right by the national museum from the protestors. And suddenly, they surged forward and stormed into the square, followed by men on horseback, and then charged into the area and essentially broke through the cordons. And what you've had since then, has been sporadic gunfire, flares going up, lots and lots of ambulances wailing up and down through the area, taking the injured away, and a lot of fairly violence feet clashes. What's really worrying now is that there are still thousands of protestors who are inside the square. Of course, night has fallen and there are no police on the streets whatsoever.
