## Transcript

>> Things are different now. There's us and the dead.

>> We ought to have warned people away from the city.

>> We're on our own, up to us to find a way out.

>> The Walking Dead, series premiere Halloween on AMC.

>> My name is Andrew Lincoln. I play Rick Grimes.

>> I'm Sarah Wayne Callies. I play Lori Grimes.

>> Jon Bernthal, I play Shane Walsh.

>> And so you guys film at Atlanta and I know speaking to the other actors yesterday that they had a lot of injuries and just the heat was something they had to contend with, what was Atlanta like for you?

>> It was hot and wet [ unk ] is what it was. I mean all the sweat you see is our own. There is-

>> There's no makeup.

>> There's no makeup. We realized that [ unk ] I mean the first day when we were filming- but it's great for the show. I mean it's become a character in the show-

>> Absolutely.

>> It makes it- it's kind of apocalyptic weather [ unk ].

>> And I know that you guys did a lot of your own running around and especially in this weather, you'd do 4 or 5 takes and you're doing all these action stunts, what did you guys do to train?

>> I mean I was- thankfully, I would- I ran before so I was in relatively good shape, but I didn't realize- I don't think I've read the script well enough to realize how much action they were- they wanted us to do, and it was- I think AMC had the policy that they wanted us to do as much as we felt comfortable doing-

>> Uh huh.

>> and that would add to the authenticity of the show. And-

>> We're all maniacs so we all did everything.

>> Yeah, we did everything.

>> But, you know, look I think there's nothing- I don't think we were ever going for any sort of polished- a choreographed look. I mean that's not what this is. I mean a big part of this is what do you do when something's coming at you and all you have is a big metal pipe and you need to bash that thing's brain's in. It's about, you know, fear and wanting to survive and doing it to stay alive, and I think it should look ugly, and it should look raw.

>> You know, you'd walk on set and you see there's no CGI on- it's just all makeup.

>> It's terrifying. I mean you just see it like a hundred zombies coming out of the woods at night. It really- there's- at least for me, there's very little acting involved.
