## Transcript

Google's Chromebook Pixel is a multi touch laptop with a high pixel density display and an even higher price tag. When Google first announced the device it came with a few goodies. The higher priced LTE model included a two year data plan from Verizon. Offering users 100 megabytes of free data per month, and some have argued this data plan perk had a lot to do with their decision to spring for the higher- priced model. But according to JR Rafael, an editor for Computer World, and a Chromebook Pixel owner. Verizon and or Google pulled the plug on the perk one year early. After realizing he was no longer receiving the free data package only one year into the agreement, Rafael contacted Verizon and Google.

While Rafael says Verizon's original response was to tell customers that as far as it's concerned, the plans were valid for only one year. It has since released a different statement. We understand that some Chromebook Pixel customers may have lost their promotional data, 100 Megs a month for two years, early. We apologize for this and are working on a solution for those customers. And Google is making up for the cancelled plan with a bit of a consolation prize. Rafael says the company will offer 100 $ 50 Visa gift cards to those customers who purchased a Pixel with the data plan perk. Users were, of course, a bit peeved to find their data plan had come to a close a year early.

100 Megs of LTE service isn't much, but that's not really the point. The bigger issue here is Verizon reneging on a deal. That may have had some influence on purchase decisions. It was a feature and gave owners a reason to spend for the LTE variant rather than the WiFi version. If $ 150 from Google and whatever solution Verizon comes up with doesn't work out for you. A Boston based law firm says it's investigating the matter for potential breaches of contract. Fradulet misrepresentations and or violations of state consumer protection laws. Thanks for watching, I'm Cliff Judy.
