[ MUSIC ] Money is here in the health closet to find out one big question, can you be a snob on a budget? [ MUSIC ] Roslyn Frazier is the fitness director for Health and she's here to give us some tips on how to make a gym membership a little bit cheaper. Hi, Roslyn. Hi, thanks for having me. Thanks for joining us. So if you do wanna have a gym membership, how do you cut the cost of that? There's several things you can do. Number one, a lot of gyms offer free trials, anywhere from like one day to seven days, consecutively. And you can actually hop around from gym to gym if you wanted, so you're testing everything.

But you could Get a month free that way. Don't be afraid to negotiate with your gym. Can you really do that? You can, I'm not saying it's gonna work all the time. But gyms get a little nervous if you say is this the lowest you can go? Or I've heard other places are at this rate. So it's always worth a shot. Also, look online to see if there's any discounts or deals. If you kind of already have a membership Referrals to friends. If you get your friends in on board, then you can drop your rate. A lot of times, they'll give you a discount in price, and things of that nature. And so if you wanna negotiate, what would you go to your gym and say?

Or what would you go to a potential new gym and say? Say, what are the fees? What can you do for For me. And also just see what does that gym offer? There are a lot of kind of more budget friendly options. You have Anytime Fitness or Planet Fitness, or you can get a gym membership as low as $ 10 a month. So you don't have to spend upwards of 100 on working out. Is there any advantage to working out at off peak times or hours or anything for gyms? There are gyms that offer off- peak times. A lot of them don't like to talk about it so you'll have to just call kind of individually. But they'll offer a lower rate so you can go in when their a lot of people aren't in there.

an I know even my cross- fit gyms do the same. So you know, I don't know, if you're a student or you're a freelancer, you just have a little bit more flexibility, that might be a great option. For you. Sure. Roslyn Frasier, thanks so much. Great advice. Thank you. [ MUSIC ] [ BLANK_AUDIO ]
