A Paralympian takes the dance floor. [ MUSIC ] That was 34- year old Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy on the Dancing With the Stars season premier. She earned 24 points for her cha- cha with partner Derek Hough. People called Purdy's dancing debut the biggest wow moment of the Season 18 premiere, dubbing her routine flawless. You got a bronze medal in the Olympics, you got a gold medal in the judges' chair, Len Goodman told Purdy, who danced effortlessly despite having two prosthetic legs. How do you do it? I'm godsmacked, Bruno Tonioli said. Some background, Purdy is an actress and former Amazing Race contestant who lost both legs to bacterial meningitis at 19, and began snowboarding with prosthetic legs a few months later.

She took home the bronze medal at the 2014 Paralympic games on Friday in Sochi, just three days before her DWTS debut. But Purdy told Team USA, she was ready for the challenge. I, I was a little bit concerned at first. But then I just thought, well, this is an opportunity to try it out, and who knows who far I can go, or if we can come up with some cool, innovative things. Purdy isn't the only Sochi medal winner competing this season. Olympic figure skating gold medal duo, Meryl Davis and Charlie White are also hoofing it, with White topping night one's leader board at 27 points, to Davis' 24.
