## Transcript

I'm Lolo Jones, two- time Olympian for Track and Field. I'm currently on the U. S. A. bobsled team. It's my first time vying for a Winter Olympics. Two times I've had very close experiences with getting on that podium and I was just kind of discouraged. I didn't really know how to rebound and I needed something to kinda challenge me and motivate me and just refresh me. There is that moment where you reduce an athlete as a person. You either quit, throw your hands up in the air and you like, " Hey, I gave my best shot. It's just not meant to be ." Or you just try harder. And so, that's what I'm doing with bobsled.

The two sports really complement each other and I'm surprised more track and field athletes haven't kinda gone over but I can see the history of track and field athletes going from track to bobsled. They are like your yin and yang. You get really powerful with bobsled so that when you go back to track you have this amazing explosive start. And then the track speed helps you on ice for bobsled. So, I'm kinda mad at myself that I haven't tried to do two sports this whole time. As an Olympic athlete I always assume that you inspire people by winning a gold medal or any medal. When I hit the hurdle in Beijing, I received the outpour of emails where people were like, " I was inspired how you handled yourself in defeat ." And so, that was a pretty big learning lesson for me that there are other ways to inspire.

I'm not gonna give up and you know, doors may slam shut in my face but I'm gonna find a way to have that dream yet.
