Labor Day is right around the corner. Time for some backyard games and of course, shopping. Labor day has become synonymous with deals, and some of them have already started. American Eagle is letting shoppers take an additional 50 % off its listed online prices. Abercrombie & Fitch is boasting up to 60 % off its stores and online. And Lowes is offering 10 to 30 % off big ticket items like refrigerators. Kmart is offering new sales every day. And its website is counting down until the holiday. But why all the deals now? Money says they may actually have nothing to do with Labor Day or back to school.

One reason is that right now is an especially. Competetive arguable desperate moment for apparel stores in particular. Iconic retailers like Target, Walmart, and Sears have been struggling mightily of late. Despite why the deals are here we just care that they are here right? MSN recommends taking advantage of them especially if you had a last second summer getaway. For the last couple years, we've seen travel deals that take up to 30 % off select hotel stays. Usually, these Labor Day sales start the first week of August and run through the first week of September. And if you don't find doubling down on that patience, Money notes, bear in mind that next week, the sales will probably be even better on whatever merchandise hasn't already been snatched up.
