[ MUSIC ] They say there are no homosexuals in Uganda? Yeah, they say it's not in Uganda any more. They use to- It guess it's not too bad then. But they sure know that there are homosexuals in the country because some of us have been out. Out of the closet, so they're aware that we're there. We exist. They shouldn't fool themselves. Hakim [ UNKNOWN ], also known as " Bad Black" is a transgender woman in a country where sex between two men Or two women is illegal. Sometimes we're attacked more by verbal attacks. Which will make us mentally sick. Coming out, usually leads to eviction, job discrimination, and violent harassment.

[ UNKNOWN ] lost her television job when she was outed by a local newspaper. If some Uganda politicians have their way. Coming out as homosexual could mean life in prison or worse. Joseph [ UNKNOWN ], a transgender woman still has nightmares about the night 2 years ago. When police officers dragged her out of her home after a tip off. That she might be gay. [ FOREIGN ]. Although colonial era law banned homosexual acts They were rarely enforced. The Ugandan society tolerated homosexuality as long as it remained private. That all started changing with the arrival of American evangelical pastor Scott Lively, who use the pulpit to demonize Uganda's gay community.

Instead of turning toward the person and their design to mate They turn in the opposite direction with the person that they're not to designed to be with. Wherever homosexuality is mentioned in the scripture, it's mentioned in collection with social calamity, with personal and social destruction and. In Africa, when a white person, especially when they have audience, says something, it is respected. They have to teach. The homosexual agenda to kids in the public schools now. It's mandated by law. Lively had spent nearly 20 years fighting what he called a gay agenda in the United States. This bible said marriage is between a male and female.

Uganda's lawmakers took up Lively's crusade to draft the so- called Kill the gays bill which demanded the death penalty for homosexuals.

Eventually it was modified to life in prison and became law in February 2014 with unanimous support from Parliament and the president. The bill was overturned on a technicality in August but politicians are now proposing a new bill that would make even the promotion of homosexuality Be illegal. Our culture, and our teachings finding sodomy to be repugnant and our members of parliament were right in passing this law. With elections coming up in 2016, the continued debate is likely to cause even greater intolerance. [ MUSIC ] The biggest [ INAUDIBLE ] for me, with the rising levels of homophobia in Uganda and intolerance to us LGBT people, is really the children there are in schools that are suffering because of [ INAUDIBLE ] does, locally does Our wonderful leaders that have decided that Uganda needs, a homosexual free generation.
