## Transcript

Just a warning, the following video contains violent content that may not be suitable for all viewers. This game, Wolfenstein: The New Order, has a mature rating 17 +, so if you're younger than 17, please stop watching this video. When it comes to first person shooters the Wolfenstein series is something of an institution. With the latest in the series, Wolfenstein: The New Order attempts to blend a deep story line with the frenetic action that we're all used to. Over at time. com, Matt Peckham has the full review. The game takes places in 1960's Europe, yet in an alternate universe where the Nazi's won the war.

American surrendered, resistance movements barely exist, and cities have been razed and re- sculpted from the footings outfitted with colossal art deco structures that wouldn't be out of place in Half Life 2's dystopian City 17. Nazi's stole our secrets. They used them to win the war. Everything they have accomplished was built upon our knowledge. You once again play as William BJ Blaskowitz as you've been doing since 1992. Captain Blaskowitz. Still fighting after all these years. Well this time around the game flirts unexpectedly with the sort of un- ironic narrative depth you'd expect more from something like Band of Brothers.

Okay, play it cool just another Nazi going for coffee in the middle of the night. Just head back to the cabin, avoid eye contact. [ NOISE ] [ FOREIGN ] [ NOISE ] [ MUSIC ] Don't worry, though. The games is still plenty ridiculous in parts. One of the game's early sequences has you leaping in mid- air from one plane's wing tip to another. You somehow end up fighting Nazis on the moon, of course. I'm on the [ NOISE ] moon. And the whole thing is still a series of finite story- linked levels filled with revenge fantasy kill or be killed sprees that'll end once the credits roll with an enemy body count in the thousands.

The New Order feels as calculated and observant as a game like BioShock, if, in the end, a little less ambitious. Shootin', stabbin', stranglin' Nazis. But it's the unexpected attention to the New Order's world building that makes this single player only game more than just a shooting gallery with a few new tricks. BJ Blaskovich. Caroline? You're alive. If you call [ BLEEP ] in a bag living. [ MUSIC ] Three pulverized vertebrae, you? Head trauma, four inches of cast iron shrapnel right in the conk, still in there. Severed colon, septic shock, shattered pelvis. Memory loss, flashbacks, 14 years in the loony bin.
