## Transcript

Israel and Hamas burned through a series of cease fires over the weekend. Teetering back and forth between truth and violence in Gaza. Israel ended a previous cease fire sighting continued rocket fire from Gaza. But Sunday, Hamas agreed to a new 24 hour truce. This one already seems destined to fail. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CNN the Palestinian militant group has already violated the new cease fire. We had a cease fire, they violated it and now they're violating their own cease fire. Obviously, we'll take whatever action is necessary. To protect our people, including against the terra- tunnels that they are trying to dig against us.

On Saturday, Israel said it had accepted the lull in the fighting proposed by the U. N. and in honor of Eid al- Fitr. A muslim holiday marking the end of Ramadan. But the country said it would not withdraw its ground forces, or stop destroying tunnels used by Hamas during the pause. That did not sit well with leaders of Hamas who rejected the deal and said any agreement that doesn't secure the withdrawal of occupation soldiers from inside Gaza's borders is unacceptable. Shortly after Israel resumed its air, ground, and naval raids, which have killed more than 1100 Palestinians since July 8th. Hamas backtracked and called for a temporary truce.

Israeli Colonel Peter Kernel told the BBC the announcement might be a chance for a broader deal in the conflict, but cautioned, this is a bit premature and we are watching the situation carefully. But according to Netanyahu's comments Sunday morning, it seems the Israelis will not. Pause their offensive. Reports indicate Israeli airstrikes in Gaza continued Sunday, killing eight Palestinians according to Gaza Health Officials. More than 40 Israeli's have been killing the operation, the majority of whom are soldiers. Thanks for watching. I'm Zach Toombs.
