When Apple pulled back the curtain on the Apple Watch, its most personal device ever. The company didn't provide too much detail. We learned it would be available in early 2015. It would come in three collections. Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. And that pricing would start out at $ 349. Other than some app and functionality demos, that's pretty much all we knew about Apple's wrist- mounted device. But some new information from John Gruber at Daring Fireball could give a little more insight to the Cupertino company's latest creation. Gruber's report provides tons of thoughtful musings to back up the following claim.

Apple's aluminum and glass watch, called the Apple Watch Sport, will start at $ 349. Its stainless steel and sapphire crystal watch, the Apple Watch, will start at $ 999. And the 18 carat gold and sapphire crystal watch, the Apple Watch Edition, will start at a whopping $ 4999. The report points to comparable watches from Rolex where a gold version costs yes, more than $ 35000. Perhaps, Grubers not far off. That's backed up by Apple's recent hiring of former Burberry CEO Angela Aarons, where she now heads off Apples retail and online store experiences. If your going to sell a $ 5, 000 item, your going to need someone with some sales chops.

An industrial design extraordinaire, Marc Newson, who likely played a role in designing Apple's potentially high- end personal device. Not to mention Tech Crunches piece last week which quoted the gold watch at $ 1, 200 based on a jeweler's estimates. If these prices do end up being anywhere near the mark, Gruber says we can expect the Apple Watch Sport. To see the most sales. We can only hope if Apple plans to price a technology- based device at $ 4, 999, or even $ 999, it'll be upgradable. Replacing an 18 carat gold watch every year, simply for the hardware updates, could get pricey.
