## Transcript

China's Foreign Minister has denounced the protests in Hong Kong as illegal. Speaking at a press conference with US Secretary of State John Kerry. Wang Yi says whatever happens in Hong Kong is solely China's concern. Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs. All countries should respect China's sovereignty. [ FOREIGN ] And this is also a basic principle governing [ CROSSTALK ] international relations. His words come as tens of thousands of protestors in Hong Kong continue their rally for democratic reforms for a fifth day. The level of organization and dedication here shows that these guys are not giving up in their cause to be allowed to elect their chief executive.

The former Vice Minister of foreign affairs for Hong Kong, Chen Xiau Au, says the protests are damaging the city. I think the occupy central movement is the Hong Kong version of street politics and color revolutions we're seeing in other countries. It's very dangerous. It's an obviously illegal movement. It has caused great harm to Hong Kong in the past few days. Regina Ip, leader of the probation new people's party, believes China should control who governs Hong Kong. Saying it would be a matter of national security. We are part of China. We are not an independent political entity. You know. China can not afford to have someone elected as chief executive who would go to Washington or London.

For help or leak our state secrets to them. You know, that thought, that simple answer is because we are part of China. Occupy central and the student movement have given the Chief Executive Leung Chun- ying until Thursday night to step down. If he doesn't, they say they'll escalate. If that happens, the pro- China establishment will be left in a very difficult position. What's clear is, they're not giving any legitimacy to the protests.
