Thank you for believing all the way! President Obama won reelection last night. Big night for America. Here's three things you need to know about the vote. The first thing to know is that the popular vote was really close. That's just the total number of votes that are counted up all across the nation. But Obama's margin was actually pretty good, I mean, that's because of the electoral college. He won most of the heavily contested states except for North Carolina which went to Mitt Romney and Florida which doesn't really have a winner yet. But he won in Virginia and Ohio and in Iowa and Wisconsin, New Hampshire he picked up pretty much all the states he needed.

[ MUSIC ] The next thing to know is that one of the voting blocks that really helped him is the Latino vote. Now, Latino vote usually goes to the Democrat. But if you look back at the historical margins Obama did really, really well. George W Bush won 40 % of the Latino vote in 2004 and McCain was only able to pick up about 31 % in 2008. Romney only managed 27 %. [ MUSIC ] While a lot of people talk about how the weak economy might have been a drag on Obama, it actually didn't really turn out that way. While things were really bad at the beginning of his term, they began to pick up in the last year.

And especially things like the auto industry, which came back in the industrial Midwest, really helped him win. [ MUSIC ]
