It hits you spiritually. I felt so alive, like it's just me, and I'm running fast. In 2012, I was trying to make the Olympic trials in track because that was always my dream. I had $ 500 to my name. And I'm just like, you know, if I don't make the Olympics, then what? Another four years of sacrifice and not getting ahead? I was studying for my M and M and I came across rugby and then I was like man this really grab my attention and I felt like I could, you know, be special. Imo the CEO which was nice and [ UNKNOWN ] and call me back and next morning, and he's like, we like fast guy on a team using speed and I was like perfect. Four days later I packed all my stuff and moved to Austin, Colorado when I first started training I got a phone call from our head coach at the time, and there's a track runner who wants to come and play rugby and I go, well how fast is he? And he goes, well he ran at a 10. 1 hundred meter. And I went, really? Does he know any rugby? And he goes, no. I'm like, well, we can teach him it. Carlin is so fast. In just that first five or six steps, [ MUSIC ] Where that's all he needs to get away from people. There's no point of even going after him because he's not going to slow down and I'm not going to speed up. [ MUSIC ] Growing up, the biggest challenge was surviving. [ MUSIC ] And, I was sexually abused. I knew that was wrong, but I aint never tell nobody and I kind of kept it to myself. [ MUSIC ] I just put it behind me and I knew I didnt wanna be another statistic, you know, in life, and just in general, so I just kept moving. I was adopted at eight. My adopted family, my mother and father, they was my guardian angels. They took me from a bad situation. And they gave me a new life. They let me be able to live my dream. [ MUSIC ] Carlin Isles [ INAUDIBLE ] man goes inside. There he goes. Now here comes the speedster Carlin Isles. There he goes, will he go the whole way? Surely he will. He burns the Wellington turf, as the jet shoes are away. Talk about afterburners, this man is electric. [ UNKNOWN ] the world's fastest rugby player, but I feel like I haven't accomplished anything. Honestly. [ INAUDIBLE ] [ INAUDIBLE ] Really can see what I can do so I'm going to just keep practicing and getting better, at the errors I need to improve to be best I can be. It would mean the world for me to be an Olympian because that's what I dreamed about all my life And for that to come true would mean everything, because everything I've done, everything I sacrifice, was all worth it. Hopefully I can try to be a mentor to a lot of other kids, and tell my story and give them hope. Everything I endured in my life made me who I am. You appreciate the struggle man. Because it made you so strong, it made you a warrior.
