## Transcript

The first on our list of the overrated blogs this year is Daily Kos. Sadly, it's a repeat from our 2009 list, but nothing really happened in the past year, nothing with their Afghanistan coverage, their oil spill coverage that really led us to bump them off the list. Daily Kos used to be a place for very cutting- edge political commentary, but not really much anymore and it hasn't been for some time. Another of our overrated blogs, The Big Lead, the sports blog that operates in a weird middle ground which actually makes it a little less interesting. It lacks the zip of a blog like Deadspin and it lacks the passion of some of those smaller blogs, and instead, it's really dead with information, but actually not all that fun and every sports blog should be fun for the fans, and sometimes, The Big Lead isn't.

Also, on our list is FAIL Blog, the online roundup of all sorts of screw- ups, public mistakes, misprints, typos, all sorts of hilarious fails. The reason it made our overrated list is we're not quite sure how the blog stands on its own. It's very dependent on user- generated content and about the time that the users start sending content elsewhere, we're wondering what the blog will have left. Also, on our list, Perez Hilton, the online celebrity gossip extraordinaire, who covers everything from Lindsay Lohan to the Britney meltdowns to Jon and Kate Plus 8, Minus 1. The site is just not as fast as TMZ.

com if you want celebrity news and it so often crosses that line of taste that leaves us wondering sometimes if he doesn't know how far is too far. We can do without it. Also, on our list, Mashable. Mashable, we love you. We really do. We follow you constantly. The problem is sometimes when we click on that Twitter- friendly headline, that Facebook- friendly headline, we get to an article and there's not much there. That's where we think it's overrated. We love the way the scope of the site has expanded to include, you know, more consumer- friendly news, more how- tos, more viral videos, but here's hoping that the depth in the vision in the site will grow as well.
