[ MUSIC ] Theres a resistance to getting off the college path. I think there's, actually, some strong date in support if you don't go directly on to school, your chances of completing you college degree are, actually, quite low. What we found, though, if you approach it through a structured gap here, those actual numbers goes up quite a lot So what we're seeing is that students who take a gap year are back in school to the tune of 90 percent within a year of completing the gap year. Gappers have been around in the state for about 30 or 35 years, and we just now are starting to get some real solid data.

And some of the great things that we're seeing is that students over- perform when they're expected to in terms of GPA. So if I'm going into Middlebury for, And I'm expected to get like a 3. 0 based on my GPA and my application, my SATs, all those kinds of things. A student who's taken a gap year will inevitably show up as better performing than that 3. 0 to the tune of, in some cases, as much as 3. 5. And that staying power lasts the entire four years of their college experience. [ MUSIC ]
