## Transcript

It's fantastic to welcome you all to Time's seventh event of the Time 100. This year is an extraordinary year. We're living in a transformational time. There are world historical events going on the Middle East. We're willing to die for our dream. The Egyptians, the Tunisians, and the rest of the people in the Arab world are proving today that the power of the people are much stronger than the people in power. Thank you. [ MUSIC ] Words. Even words from long ago can inspire. So tonight the person I'd like us to toast first, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and an inspiration to this Jersey boy to think that politics in your life not only was possible but could be meaningful and change the world.

I'd like to raise a glass to my parents. I truly feel that I owe them everything. So here's to my own Tiger parents. If I could leave you with just one thought that Gabby would certainly stress if she was there with you tonight, it's that we're all better than what happened on January 8th. We must be. So I'm trying to reclaim this beautiful ancient art form where somebody stands up in a room and inspires and provokes and paints pictures like a symphony that makes your soul soar. I have so much influence. [ MUSIC ] Every move you make, with every vow you break. [ MUSIC ] And, for you working women who are out there tonight, who get to do what you get to do because there are wonderful people who help you at home, on behalf of them and on behalf of every sister and mother and person who stands in your kitchen and helps you love your child I say thank you and I celebrate you tonight.
