## Transcript

In the race for autonomous driving the folks at GM have announced a progressive step for some of the companies future models. This light's gone green, you can let go of the wheel. That's super cruise. According to General Motors Cadillac will be releasing 2017 models. With advanced driver assist technology. Nicknamed Super Cruise, which will let the driver go hands and pedals free on the highway or in bumper to bumper traffic. Now it's not to be confused with Google's driverless car or its own driverless technology. As Autoblog points out ,. This new model will still require an attentive drive who can take over operating the vehicle if the road conditions become too complex and when the driver gets off the highway.

Cadillac will build GM's first V to V equipped car. Along with Super Cruise, GM's CEO Mary Barra announced the company's plan for a vehicle to vehicle communication technology. Specifically on the 2017 CTS Sedan. The new tech is supposed to send basic safety information such as location, speed and direction of travel between vehicles that are within 300 meters of each other. The big problem here though, is the lack of other cars on the road with that same technology. The Los Angeles Times spoke to one auto analyst who said. The first Cadillacs sold with V2V communication capability 'will be very lonely cars in terms of finding another ar to talk to'.

Obviously GM has some ground to make up in the public's eye. This announcement follows GM's record amount of recalls that pulled 29 million cars off the road, and has been linked to 13 deaths.
