If there are three things that millennials need to know about money, the first, most important is you're probably paying too much in housing costs. You're probably paying too much rent. 40 % is what a typical millennial is paying on rent and housing costs. That's too high. It should be, when you look at any of the reputable calculators, it should more like 30 % or less. So know how much you're spending on housing, you might have to move home, you might have to get a roommate. It's really hard if you live on the East Coast or on the West Coast. But be aware of your housing costs. The second thing is don't think that student loan debt holds you back from investing.

In some cases if you are paying the minimums every month on your student loans and you're in a loan repayment program If you're investing in your 401- K at work, in your job, it actually lowers what your requirement is every month to pay. So that can loosen up your personal finances. So don't think that because you have student loan debt, you can't be investing. You should be investing. And third, save more money than you're saving. 15 %. Think about living on $. 85 of every dollar that comes in. Just think about [ MUSIC ] The fact that you have to live on a little less than you make, and you're gonna growth that wealth.
