## Transcript

Very funny thing in your book that one of the worst investments you can have is the best performing mutual fund. I know. Isn't that crazy? It is. Explain. So, what happens with mutual funds is after they have a good quarter's performance, for example, if you're getting in at that point in time, you're buying them high. Mm- hm. So, that is not necessarily a good investing strategy and so when you look at the funds there in the top core tile or top 10 % in one quarter, that's actually a negative correlation With how they do, you know the following quarter or one year and the following year. So instead of chasing returns which is what that is, it's really looking at low fee funds.

The fees are guaranteed or the fees are the one guarantee. You're gonna have to pay those fees. The return is not. The next thing you talked about is low turnover. What do you mean low turnover? So what I mean by that is the mutual fund should not be buying and selling stocks Or bonds, often. They should have more of a buy and hold strategy. That tends to work better for tax reasons, you have lower taxes and you pay less in terms of commissions, of brokerage commissions. So lower taxes, lower fees It's all good. And the last thing you talk about is rebalancing. Just very quickly what is rebalancing?

Rebalancing is when your portfolio gets out of was. So let's say you wanna have 50 % in stock mutual funds and 50 % in bonds or a fixed income. And all inside stock market goes away up. So it's 80 % Stocks, 20 % bonds, you're in a huge amount of risk at that point. Especially if you're nearing retirement or you want to use that money soon. So you want to sell off your stocks and they're at a high. And get it back to 50 / 50. Well, Liz Davidson, thank you very much. Thank you. [ MUSIC ]
