>> Last night the police came at 12: 45 while I was in a meeting and my aid told them that I was unavailable, so they blasted a restraint order on the wall of my house saying that I could not leave the house for 7 days, and it had been declared a sub- jail. And the next thing we knew they brought these 2 massive trucks filled with wet sand and armored personnel carriers and they say that I can't leave the house for 7 days. This is a brute police force because the administration knows that the people of Pakistan are with me. They know that if I am free then a million Pakistanis will march with me to Rawalpindi and they used instead force to stop this march for peace, for democracy, and for transferring power because this is a march and we are marching to end martial law.

We are marching because we want Musharraf to step down and leave. We are marching because we want power returned to the people. The people are worried because our country is disintegrating under the hands of this martial law. So this march is important for everyone. It's important for those who are marching the barefooted, the middle classes, the working classes, the peasants, the youth, the women, it's important for all segments of society and if we don't march, our fear is that this dictatorship will disintegrate our nation at the hands of the extremist.

>> So there's no more negotiations now.

>> There's no more negotiations with General Musharraf. He is very unpopular now and anybody who associates with him gets contaminated. So while he and I may have a good personal rapport when we discussed things with each other he stood totally out of his debt now. Instead of trying to mobilize the power of the Democratic forces in the country, he is trying to crush and suppress the voice of democracy and by so doing he's creating a vacuum and the extremists and the militants are moving swiftly to try and fill that vacuum. There's a great danger to nuclear armed Pakistan. There's a danger of internal implosion, and this is why so many people are out on the street irrespective of their political background or their capacity as social activists.

>> So what's gonna happen today now?

>> Well, they may use physical force to stop one march, but how many times can they use physical force to stop a march? The moment this is over we'll announce another march and another march because we the people have to save Pakistan. We are to save Pakistan from the extremists and we have to save Pakistan from the dictatorship that is fueling the extremists. Our tribal regions have already become safe havens for terrorists who mount attacks on the innocent people in the tribal areas and on nearby NATO troops in Afghanistan. They're expanding their sphere of influence. They're going to come knocking on our doors.

There's a soft revolution taking place and we have to try and stop that. The only way to stop it is to end the dictatorship that has fueled the rise of extremism.

>> And so what's your plans today? What can you do?

>> Well, I try to see whether I could lead through another exit but we could not lead. We found a few police who was sympathetic and said that they would let us out. They would stand by, but the presence of the police force is so very large that it's almost impossible for us to get through them, to get through the barbed wire, and to get through the fence. So I'm going to continue, well, since I'm forced not to leave my house and I've been arrested, well I will then continue to serve as a rallying point for my people who are marching to end martial law, who are marching to tell Musharraf it's time to leave.

It's time to quit. Go. Go before you take our country under.

>> So you're gonna try to get out of here?

>> I try to get our last night and it's impossible. They made so many barricades and they placed 4, 000 police in front and behind then at the sides of the house. They even gone into the neighbors' house and taken over his property. If only they showed this much spunk when it came to containing the terrorists, I don't think we would have such a problem.
