## Transcript

My son Jimmy was a police officer for eight years before his first start with the fire department. And he made me happy, you know, that he was you know, he was following in my footsteps and made me very proud. My brother, Jimmy, my older brother, we grew up together, eighteen months apart, like I said, two years apart in school. We basically did everything together. Jimmy was twelve years older than me. Jimmy was thirteen years older than me. I was the baby brother. And he looked after me like a father, he was older than me like that, you know? So he really took care of his younger brothers. On September 11th woke up that morning.

I knew my son Jimmy was working. He was working right around the corner from the World Trade Center at the time. I said oh boy, he's gonna be right in the, heart of the biggest fire New York City's ever seen. I was trying to call home, I couldn't get through right away and when I finally did, I remember my mom right away said we might have lost Jimmy. From 9 / 11 / 01' til May thirtieth, I spent my entire time down there leading the search and recovery and picking up the bodies. On March twenty fifth, two thousand two we recovered my son's body. We had found the helmet. My son's helmet was crushed.
