The Democratic position is clear. We will meet and sit down any time, any place with anyone, including the president, who canceled the meeting, because the Republicans have determined that they want to shut down the government and hurt the American people. That's an unacceptable and irresponsible position. We will not be intimidated by Russ Vought, who's completely and totally out of control. The OMB has been illegally shutting down parts of the government throughout the entire year. And the notion that Democrats are going to be intimidated by this guy. When all he's done is send a message to voters in Virginia and across the country that Republicans are determined to hurt the American people, Republicans control the House, the Senate and the presidency. If the government shuts down, it's because they want the government to shut down. Are you worried about American workers? If the government shuts down, do you have plans to permanently? Well, we're going to see. But the radical left Democrats want to shut it down. I mean, it's up to them. We have a great economy going. You saw the numbers yesterday. They're fantastic. The economy is doing well. Prices are down. We have virtually no inflation. Everything is going good. We're respected by every nation in the world. And you know what happened? The Democrats want to shut it down, and they want to shut it down because they want to give billions, ultimately trillions of dollars to illegal migrants, people that came into our country illegally. Some of those people are criminals, but they came into our country illegally, and they want to give them the essential over the years, trillions of dollars, and our people aren't going to stand for it. They also want to have open borders. They want to have men and women sports. They want to have transgender for everybody. These people are crazy, the Democrats. So if it has to shut down, it will have to shut down.
