## Transcript

Aisha, for me, was one woman that really stood out. She's staying in a shelter in Kabul. There was a court case against her within the tribe. She said that as punishment, men took her and cut off her ears and her nose. For me, it was more about capturing something about her, and that was really a difficult part. You know, her head scarf fell slightly back and her hair was exposed and she had the most beautiful hair. And I say to her, " You know, you are really such a beautiful woman, and I could never understand or know how you're feeling you know, by having your nose and ears cut off. But what I can do is show you as beautiful in this photograph ." I could have made a photograph with her looking or being portrayed more as the victim.

And I thought, " No, this woman is beautiful ."
