We're going up to 120, 000 feet in a pressurized capsule hanging on an [ unk ] Helium balloon and at altitude the balloon will level off, I'm gonna step off that capsule, fall down for a couple of minutes and hopefully I'm gonna break the speed of sound, and at the same time it's also a Science project. So, what we're gonna gain is a lot of valid information for the future, for future space projects. >> The event we're doing is contributing to egress of pilots from high altitude. >> Air Force Captain, Jo Kittinger, was working on a project called ManHigh back in the 60s. He wanted to prove that people can bail out from a capsule and going back to earth safely. So, he proved that point of people escaping or escaping scenarios from that altitude that it is possible, people will survive. >> It's pushing the outer limits, [ unk ] at new development, new techniques, new pressure suites, new challenges. A lot of benefit will come to the scientific area because of Red Bull Stratos Program. >> Jo Kittinger, when he did his job they recorded a lot of data, but there's a line of data that wasn't recorded too. One information in today's time that we have the ability to gather. >> I had confidence in myself, confidence in my equipment, confidence in what we were doing and how we were doing it. And without it, it would have been a real dangerous situation but I didn't go there thinking that we had left anything off because I love life and I wasn't gonna take any chances that are unnecessary. >> There's a lot of danger, there's a lot of scenarios for what can go wrong. If something goes wrong in the altitude, Felix literally has a matter of seconds to get the door off and get out before he goes unconscious. >> If you look back to what Jo accomplished, you know, 50 years later, still nobody was able to break that record. And I think the reason why is they were ahead of the time. >> He's going from a higher altitude, and a longer free fall and a faster speed.
