## Transcript

Seven years on the run, and US officials say he was the finance man for a group responsible for several deadly attacks in the Philippines. Philippine authorities nabbed Khair Mundos at a relative's home in a Manila suburb Sunday, arresting one of the United States most wanted terrorist suspects. He's one of the leaders of Al Qaeda linked rebel group Abu Sayyaf, and the State Department had a half million dollar reward out for information leading to Mundos' arrest. Abu Sayyaf is one of several militant groups based in the Southern Philippines responsible for a wave of recent attacks and partially funded by seed money from Al Qaeda.

[ NOISE ] While it's estimated Abu Sayyaf only has around 300 armed fighters, the group's suicide attacks and beheadings of priests and others make it feared in the region. It also took credit for a ferry bombing in 2004 that killed more than 100 people. This marks Mundo's second capture. U. S. officials say he admitted his role as a financial planner and bomb maker after a 2004 arrest, but he escaped prison three years later. Predictably, both U. S. and Philippine military officials are already calling Mundos' capture a major blow to his rebel group. I'm Cliff Judy.
