When it comes to money, it seems many parents and their kids just aren't on the same page. New data from T. Rowe Price suggests the majority of parents agree. They spend too much on things their kids don't actually need. Worse than that, 46 % say they've gone in to debt. To bank roll their kids once. Speaking of which, more than 40 % of parents have spent $ 200 or more on their children's birthday presents in the last year. But before thinking these kids are spoiled, which 58 % of parents fear, it turns out many moms and dads aren't being totally up [ INAUDIBLE ] With their children about finances.

More than 70 % of parents are hesitant to talk with their kids about finances. And less than half said they actually do it most of the time, and when they do they're slightly more likely to sit down with their sons. One survey, 30 % of people with kids of both genders say they're likelier to speak with their sons more. While 24 % would go to their daughters. 46 % said it makes no difference.
