## Transcript

In 2009, actress Brittany Murphy died suddenly at the age of 32, and now, a new report claims she might have been poisoned. There's been a cloud of mystery surrounding the death of the star of movies like Clueless and 8 Mile, as well as the passing of her husband, Simon Monjack, just a few months later, he was just 40. A coroner ruled both died of pneumonia and anemia and that therapeutic drugs possibly played a role. But Murphy's father thought otherwise, Examiner. com reports Angelo Bertolotti had samples of his daughter's tissue independently tested and that heavy metals similar to those used in rat poison and insecticides were detected in her system.

Definitely a murder situation here. Yeah, and it's poison. Yes, yes, I know that. That report also claims that Murphy and Monjack showed symptoms of metal poisoning, including nausea and coughing fits, and it cites criminal intent as a possibility. This isn't the first time Murphy's cause of death has been questioned. In 2011, her mother said toxic mold might have killed the starlet. As for the claim of poisoning, the LA Coroner's Office says it hasn't been presented with any third party lab test results, so, it cannot comment. Contributing for Time, I'm Lauren Zima.
