## Transcript

High school has never been a nice place. Teasing and bullying in the hallways and locker rooms are often as old as the school house itself. But one particularly controversial prom date ritual is making national headlines. With the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. A group of boys at Corona del Mar High School in Orange County, California. Are reportedly holding a NFL style draft to pick prom dates. The junior and senior boys who are reportedly participating draw numbers for the draft, but can purchase a higher pick. Students say one team even paid $ 140 to get higher on the draft board. According to the Orange County Register who originally reported the story.

This draft style prom selection has been going on for years and recently, the students put some draft coverage on a Twitter account. That has since been deactivated. The register reports one tweeted saying, many drafters on the prowl tomorrow for free agents, so, dress nice ladies. Reactions from parents and students range from outrage to essentially. What's the problem? I don't think it's very like, that big of a deal. It's just terrible. There's just high school I think this kind of thing is blown out of proportion a lot. Well she's being ranked and sold like an NFL player. But the prom draft is just the latest controversy from Corona del Mar High School this school year.

A grade cheating scandal has rocked a Newport Beach High School. The 11 students caught in the cheating scandal that rocked. This district will now face the maximum disciplinary action. And in 2009, Corona del Mar was sued by the ACLU for letting a quote, sexist and a homophobic atmosphere flourish at the school. As for this most recent scandal at the Orange County School. The principal has not taken any disciplinary action just yet. But she did send out a letter to parents. I am sure that the intention of this draft is not to be harmful, but it may be. It is not okay for any student to be objectified or judged in any way.
