## Transcript

>> All right, I'm-- we're at the Getty. I'm with Ricky Gervais, and we're-- we're his-- teach me about art.

>> This is An Allegory of Fortune by Salvator Rosa. I think it's obvious what's happening here. A woman there who's just been selling cockles and mussels, which has made a lot of money, but she's being mugged by a donkey, a sheep, a cow. They worked together-- the animals worked together, and the eagle kept the lookout.

>> I didn't see the eagle. Nice.

>> Yeah and he said, " Now, boys ." And they all came out of the woods, and they mugged her, and they go buy oats and things.

>> And why is-- one of them has a crown. Did you know there is a crown in this painting?

>> One has fallen out of the bag. Yeah, 'cause someone couldn't pay for the cockles and [ unk ]-- a crown. [ unk ]--

>> I saw something much more sexual in that. But that's my problem, I think.

>> It's happening again. There's a woman here being mugged by two children.

>> It was a problem of that era. -[ unk ]--

>> It's what? -[ unk ]-- Take a little bit of crack and look at what you see, and you'll see it's just gonna be mugged.

>> That's-- that's what happens when you take crack. You get-- have the fear of mugging in you.

>> You've come back to this one like three times.

>> I know. I can't-- I can't work out what he's pointing at because--

>> Why does it bother you so much if we don't know what he's pointing at?

>> There's nothing by mistake is there in art. It's just-- It's-- It means something. It means something, either spiritual or literal or [ unk ]-- Or the artist is a duck, and he's saying, " Get down there! Get down there !" The artist shouldn't be painting-- a duck should not paint, so it's against God. So we see in-- we see in the ducks all keep going into-- getting the brush, getting the paint and he was suspicious 'cause he's trying to-- perhaps he's busy and he's gone, " Fido, what are you doing ?" Duck's going, -" Nothing" and then he's seeing him painting and he's going, " Get down there !" But the dog is also a paparazzi of the day, so he quickly sketched him doing that, and that's probably what that is.

>> So he-- he's just like us. It's one of those us magazine things.

>> Yeah.

>> He yells the dogs, and we yell at dogs, we're all-- we're all people.

>> Musicians-- this is a--

>> Right.

>> thing of the day that the dog used to do a feature for us, it's called musicians without their makeup.

>> By the way, as beautiful as this painting is, and it's definitely art, but my framing right now is pretty much art, too.

>> It's just me-- it's just a big head.

>> No, no, no. It's perfect that you're in the foreground. It's in the background. I'm pretty proud.

>> You gave yourself your review then, you know that.

>> Uh huh.

>> I hope he's as kind to me.
