## Transcript

How is everyone doing? [ NOISE ] Amy Poehler has mentioned, she really wrote a beautiful thing for me in the magazine, and she made the Time 100 a couple years ago. And I'm so honoured and happy to make the list this year so she can finally stop lording that over me, cause she did do that. I just want to say that it is an incredible honor to be on the Time 100. And I want to assure you that reading through the list and seeing incredible nominees on the screen, that I am also aware that at best, I'm mid to high 90s on the list. I get that. And I know tonight's not about where you finish on list.

But let's not, you know, mistake the fact that we're not all created equal on the Time 100. Like, I'm guessing Beyonce and I didn't react the same way when we got the call that we made the Time 100. Beyonce probably didn't say, what? No way! Get out! But I have to say, it is so great for all of you who made this list, it is so great making the Time 100 because you get a lot of texts from all your friends who read Time. And, then like a month from now, you get texts from all your friends, who are at the dentist. [ LAUGH ] Such an eclectic group of people, on the Time 100. But, connections between the Pope and Ferrell, we have two people, who fancy large head wear.

[ LAUGH ] And, between President Obama, and Amazon's Jeff Bezos, we have a record setting two people, who control an army of drones. [ LAUGH ] As for every year, there many world leaders in the Time 100. President Obama, Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin. This is very interesting, I don't know if you know this. There are different additions of time based on what part of the world you live in. So while Vladimir Putin made the Time 100 in the American edition, in the Russian edition he made the Time one. So I guess for Vladimir, congratulations are in order. I'm sorry, I read that wrong congratulations are an order.

[ LAUGH ] North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un is on the Time 100. Although, based on pictures of him, it seems like he's been on the Time 300. You feel bad for Kim Jong- Un? [ NOISE ] Hey, he's working on it. These are also the jokes I'm going to do at the Emmys, so let's talk after about which ones we like the most. Al Qaeda leader Abu Dua is on the Time100. Despite making the list Abu Dua chose not to attend. Though I have to admit it was a pretty good plan on how to catch him. [ LAUGH ] Hillary Clinton is of course on this list, I'm sure there are many people here who would like to see her run for president 2016 while Barack Obama we'd like for her to run as soon as possible.

[ LAUGH ] But the great thing about tonight is how many people on the Time100 are here in the very room? This very room my good friend Charlie Rose? Charlie Rose is here tonight he is an honoree. Give it up for Charlie Rose, Charlie plans to celebrate the Time 100 by finally splurging for some electricity in his studio ( Laughing ) Just the one light bulb? It sort of looks like. It kind of looks like he's doing a play about a talk show. Interesting fact, after Charlie finishes taping they use the studio to interrogate terrorists. Many people from the field of technology here, Travis Kalanek, the co- founder of Uber is here tonight.

Travis where are you? [ NOISE ] Round of applause for Travis. For those of you who don't know Uber is an app that marries the convenience of a cab ride with a price of a small yacht. [ LAUGH ] Perry Chen the CEO of Kickstarter is here. He didn't make the list this year, but if you wanna help him make it in 2015, I'm sure he can send you a donation link. And Bobby Murphy and Evan Speigel, the co- founders of Snapchat are here, give it up for Evan and Bobby. [ SOUND ] Unless you looked at them already, if you looked at them, they're long gone. [ LAUGH ] Alfonso Calderon is at my table, I believe, table ten.

He's here with us tonight and I have to say the visual effects in Gravity were just amazing. If you saw gravity, what an incredible film. Amazing. George Clooney didn't look a hair over 45. Bravo! Bravo Alphonto! Dr. John Kovac is here tonight, that's right. Dr. Jon, where are you? You up there? I love it. That's right, you and I are on the same list buddy. The guy who discovered gravitational waves in space, and proved the Big Bang theory to be true and the guy who makes Rob Ford jokes in the middle of the night. Hope you're feeling good about your life's work right now, I know I am. Side note, Rob Ford did not make the Time's most top influential people list.

But, he did make the High Times, Most Under the Influence, list. [ LAUGH ] So, that's something. And, I should say very quickly, that those aren't the only impressive people who are here, tonight. Many Time 100 honorees, from years past, are with us, this evening and, I would just like to say to all of those, who came before me, I am so sorry that you are no longer influential. But if there's anything I can do for any of you, Matt Lower, Rupert Murdoch, Martha Stewart, do not hesitate to ask me, I would love to do you a favour. Please, I am so influential now and none of you are. It's how it goes, it's a one year cycle.

There are of course numerous honorees that due to other commitments couldn't be here tonight. Matthew McConaughey made the list but is not here. Time should have known that he wasn't gonna show, when they asked him to come, and he just said alright, once. [ LAUGH ] Edward Snowden made the list, but, couldn't make it tonight which seems surprising for someone who lives in an airport. Secretary of State, John Kerry's on the Time100 which is also how many minutes a John Kerry speech lasts. Of course, John Kerry doesn't call it the Time100. He calls it The Weekly News Publication Time Magazine List of Persons of Influence in Various Categories Including But Not Limited to Politics, Entertainment, Science, Philanthropy and Religion100.

Finally if I can be sincere for a moment about the honor of being on this list and sharing it with all the incredible people many of whom are here tonight, there is one person that is in, incredibly special for me. This is all true, there is an Improv theater, an Improv comedy theater in Amsterdam In the netherlands, and it was started by some Chicago guys, and it's called Boom Chicago. And six months after I graduated from college, I was hired there and I moved to Amsterdam and I started. It was my first paid acting job, and it was incredibly influential to me and my life in comedy. But here's the amazing thing Jordan Peele from Key and Peele, the great Comedy Central show.

He's also, their both also on the list tonight. He was in Amsterdam at the same time when I was there, and he's also as I mentioned, I'm with tonight. And if you had told Jordan and I in 1999, in Amsterdam that one day we would both be honored by Time. We would have giggled, and, forgotten what you said. [ NOISE ] So, thank you. I promise this is a night, I will never forget. Thank you so much, for this honour and, enjoy the rest of your evening. We have some incredible performances, some incredible toasts. Thank you, for having me.
