## Transcript

Speaking with a financial planner is the most important thing you can do to properly assess your financial life and know where you stand. So here are a few tips that can help you understand exactly where to get started when you start talking to your very own financial planner. First off, you need to gather all of your accounts and know all of your information. [ UNKNOWN ] We need to see everything. All of your financial accounts and their logins that means you have to remember the passwords and last year's tax return and any other important financial details that you think a planner should know.

You're gonna wanna know all of your company or employer's financial benefits. Does your employer match, are there any life insurance benefits or disability benefits that we can be taking more advantage? So next up, your planner's gonna need to know your goals. This i my favorite part of a financial plan. It's where you get to dream a little, think about your future, and tell us what you want to accomplish. You and your spouse should get on the same page. Dream together. What do we want our future to look like? As part of that, you want to consider a few things. Are you planning to move? Change jobs.

Are you adding children into the mix? Once you can get a clear picture of what those look like, financially speaking, we can do the rest. So the last piece of this puzzle is, you have to be honest. Remember that when you're going to a financial planner, they're like a doctor. They've seen it all. And again, people don't go to financial planners if they don't have financial issues, so remember there's no judgement. This is a totally judgement- free zone. So when you work with your planner, remember to include it all. The bad habits that you have, the things that are keeping you up at night. The more that your financial planner can know, the better advice that they can devise to help you make progress on your money.
