Mary- Louise Parker starred as soccer mom- turned- drug dealer Nancy Botwin on Showtime's Weeds for eight seasons, often involving her on screen kids in the illegal business. But when it comes to her real life children, Parker says that, that's a no go. The actress tells People, we talk about drugs a lot. I really hate drugs, and I was always the person where that was my thing. Mary- Louise doesn't do drugs. The actress admits that she's actually afraid of drugs, especially what happens to people who quote, have particular biochemistry that is susceptive to addiction. The star says addiction runs in her family and that's why she's anti- drug. She told Vanity Fair in 2010 that the most she's ever done is lick a pot lollipop. Parker has nothing against alcohol though, as evidenced by her appearance on Hannah Hart's My Drunk Kitchen web series. Parker even tells her kids, 10 year old William and 7 year old Caroline, they will never get in trouble if their drunk and call to ask her for a ride. But she recently told that David Letterman, it can be difficult to start a dialogue with her kids, especially William. Yeah, someone told me to that you need to remove yourself and think of yourself as sort of an anthropologist. [ LAUGH ] You know, you sort of like, separate yourself from them and you treat them like a specimen. Something else Parker is very open about with her children, charitable work. She's currently having a raffle to benefit her Hope North Uganda charity, benefiting escaped child soldiers.
