## Transcript

[ NOISE ] A new strategy in the push for higher pay. Fast food workers around the country will now reportedly turn to civil disobedience to make their case for increased wages. It's going to take place in 150 cities across the country, we're talking Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit. Seattle among those cities. Labor organizers are planning sit- ins and other acts of civil disobedience. Set for Thursday, organizers say the protest will push for wages of $ 15 an hour, and the right for fast food workers to unionize. And they apparently aren't afraid of being arrested to make their point.

The New York Times quotes a Burger King employee, and member of the Fast Food Worker's National Organizing Committee, saying. We are prepared to take arrests to show our commitment to the growing fight for $ 15. The protest is scheduled to come just after an increase in minimum wage received at some high profile political backing. In a Labor Day speech in Milwaukee, President Obama backed a bump in the federal minimum wage. Which is currently set at $ 7. 25 a hour. I'm not asking for the moon. I just want a good deal for American workers. Meanwhile Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti called for an increase in the city's minimum wage.

To $ 13. 25 on Monday. We are going to raise the wage, L. A. Seattle is already set to have the highest minimum wage in the country. An increase to $ 15 an hour will gradually go into place starting in 2015. Following a law that was passed in June.
