It's a unique. It features two 14- inch touch screens instead of the tried and true screen and keyboard combination. Here's how you turn on the keyboard. It retains the same form factor as the standard laptop. Let's take a look. The bottom touch screen is home to the Acer ring, which is activated by touching all 5 fingers that last. Then you select from a handful programs designed to take advantage of the 2 screens. There's a dual screen internet explorer web browser with touch scrolling and ability to crop and saves snippets from web pages. There's a dual- screen video player, clips on the bottom, videos of the top. The picture viewer is laid out similarly to the video player and includes the ability to pinch, zoom and navigate through photos using multi- touch gestures. Acer socialjogger software has a lot of promise but ultimately fall short and they'd only shows updates from Facebook, YouTube and Flicker. There's no ability to customize the applications. There's also a digital scrapbooking app which is nice for design ideas or other artsy projects. Maybe you just like to remember stuffs like trips and times in your life when you didn't cry in your car on the way to work every morning. All these cool features and without drawbacks however, the second screen makes a computer heavy, thick and expensive while still stripping up features. There's no optical drive for instance. There's not even a memory card reader and external USB device. With these screens affect the Iconia's battery life immensely as well. You'll be lucky to get anything more than a couple of hours out of it or you need to recharge. But like we doesn't need to be said an on- screen keyboard is no substitute for a real keyboard. So as a portable computer, the Iconia kinda stumbles. It's too big and heavy. Battery life is too short and the keyboard, you can't get any real work done on the go. But you got a dual- screen setup with above average internal hardware and you got touch capabilities whenever you need them. Add an external keyboard and mouse, leave the thing plugged in all the time of your desk and you've got oodles of screen real estate in a 6- pound package. I think you would like that. You're not gonna use it for that application though, it's an really adapter advice or really adapters with strong backs and line extension cords and little tiny poky fingers looks stylish fingers. That's you.
