## Transcript

Right now this appears to be a tragedy which was a result of a conflict between two individual students. And it was, in fact, an isolated event. First reports indicate that the conflict began with bullying that escalated out of control. And as fear took over, a young person bought a gun to solve the problem. It was About between five to seven minutes later after the shooting took place that a teacher was able to notify, was able to get word out that she was actually with the shooter. And he admitted to what he had done And was ready to surrender. That location was given to officers that were already in the school at that time.

This event actually began days before this morning. So what took place this morning was something that built up, that several people knew about ahead of time. Not knew that there was gonna be a shooting, but knew that there was gonna be Likelihood of some sort of an altercation this morning and we just didn't have that information until after it happened. This is gonna take some time. Healing from trauma requires patience, support and a community that cares and deals in facts, and not rumors and innuendo. [ BLANK_AUDIO ] I want to clarify that our decision to keep students on campus and in class was motivated by one goal, and that's to keep our students safe until transportation could be arranged with their families.
