## Transcript

When I think about women around the world, it's all about unlocking their potential. You see this amazing young girls who are full of potential and energy nad that's why I've gotten so interested in making sure that we make investments on behalf of women. Whether it's women's health, whether it's contraceptives Whether it's making sure they get the right tools on their cell phone or it's making sure they have a great educational economic opportunity, we need to unlock all of those things for them to let them fully participate and be who they are in the world. We're not talking about population control, I'm talking about, Is giving women the power.

I fundamentally believe that contraceptives begin the cycle of unlocking poverty for women. And we know it, we know it from great research and data. If a women can space the birth of her children particularly by three years. I think for the child potential that they can grow up healthy and for the women we know that the women is healthier if she can space the births and because of good research that the family ends up being wealthier. So, for all those reasons I believe contraceptives are the right thing. And I wouldn't have seen it except that I was out so much traveling in Africa, India, Bangladesh.

And women asking me for it. They knew I was western woman there in a pair of khaki pants and a t- shirt, they didn't know who I was. But when I would talk to them about vaccines, they'd bring the conversation around and say, but what about this tool I have? What about this thing I used to be able to have and I don't have it anymore? And so it became sort of this rallying cry and I just realized, despite anything political. Despite any religious convictions around the world, we just need to get these tools to women. We have to. And you'll amazing things because of it. [ MUSIC ]
