## Transcript

It was exciting and, in a way, inspirational to me to see Jerry Brown win the, the governor's race in California. I grew up there in the 70s and he was governor then. And I think it's, I think, maybe to me, personally, it was meaningful because I've, I published a book in this past year that's very much about the impact of time and the way lives shift and wax and wane over many years. So it was kind of, it felt like almost a manifestation of that to see this man that I remember as a very young man as governor when I was a teenager with a lot more gravitas and weight reassume that role when, of course, I'm in a very different moment of my life, too.

And it had the added thrill of, of going against the grain of tea, tea party influence and this general sort of sway to the right that our country has been experiencing and he seemed like the, the glorious exception to that. And to revisit that but in a, in a different and more mature way was exciting.
