But the big story this year of course is diversity. This is the most diverse group of nominees in Emmy history. [ APPLAUSE ] Racism is over, dont fact check that. [ LAUGH ] [ LAUGH ] Of course, given our history, being more diverse than ever isn't always saying that much. I mean, I bet on the day of Jackie Robinson's first game, the baseball commissioner was like, this year's Brooklyn Dodgers are more diverse than ever in history. you know, it's good. [ APPLAUSE ] [ APPLAUSE ] Oh my god. Man, we all had to get final draft once they picked up our show. [ LAUGH ] We didn't own it. [ LAUGH ] We care so much about this show.

First of all, I want to thank Jessie Cline, the head writer, who had a baby like ten seconds ago. [ APPLAUSE ] [ APPLAUSE ] I almost made a stupid sex talk show that nobody wanted, and she got drunk and told me I had to follow my dreams and make my dream show. There's all of them, you guys are incredible and I love you mostly because you let me be me, and finally I really just wanna say thank you to my family who have stood beside me my entire life. Thanks Mr [ UNKNOWN ], you are my very best friend. I am humbled to call myself your sister. I love you so much. Thank you for the Academy. [ APPLAUSE ] Thank you our fellow Africans.

Just thank you very much. God bless you. And let me tell you something [ APPLAUSE ] The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. [ APPLAUSE ] So here's to all the writers, the awesome people that are Ben Sherwood, Paul Lee, Peter Norwalk, Shonda Rimes People who have redefined what it means to be beautiful. To be sexy. To be a leading woman.
