As explosion after explosion hurls concrete, cars and bodies through the air. Creating carnage, horror, and mayhem in [ INAUDIBLE ] [ FOREIGN ] The entire road sank in a few seconds, explains this woman. The first explosion was within a 100 meters from here, the second was behind it, and the third in the opposite direction. The explosions just kept going on and on. Underground gas lakes from petro chemical pipelines built alongside the city's sewer system are believed to have triggered the multiple explosions. Taiwan Central News Agency, CNA, says residents had earlier reported the smell of leaking gas to authorities. Firefighters investigating, unaware of the inferno that was about to erupt. As captured on CCTV footage, from an underground car park, around midnight. Dozens were killed, including several fire fighters. Hundreds of others were injured. The blasts so powerful, vehicles were thrown onto the roof of three to four story buildings. Were long trenches in the streets, evidence of the ferocious force that came from underground. [ FOREIGN ] We saw a motorcycle on the rooftop and thought someone might be up there, says this man. Rescuers searched and found one person alive. But some of the rescuers were also among the dead. This woman's husband was. Killed trying to save people trapped under the rubble. [ FOREIGN ]. No one can find my husband, how can this tragedy happen to me? I don't know what to do. This mother also heartbroken. Her son was crushed to death from falling concrete during a rescue. I'm so sad he sacrificed his life trying to save others. As the city tries to comprehend the enormity of this disaster that ripped apart neighborhoods, an investigation is now underway into how this could happen and who is responsible.
