## Transcript

Parents lie to infants stolen. A doctor in China has admitted to secretly selling her patients' babies into human trafficking, this is according to state media Zhang Shuxia after a [ unk ] who worked at the Children's Hospital admitting in court this week that she had sold seven babies into human trafficking. How did she do it? Disturbingly she chose to steal children from families she knew very well so that they would trust her. She told those new parents that their babies had health problems convincing them to sign the children over. Then she sold the babies for as little as $ 165. The babies were passed through middleman eventually sold to other couples one for almost $ 10, 000.

This went on from November 2011 through July 2013, a trafficking ring moving through multiple provinces. Last summer, one said of parents got suspicious and Shuxia was investigated. Thankfully, six of the babies were recovered, sadly the seventh had died. The families involved were devastated. Now she face a sentencing human trafficking is a problem in sign because of the heavily populated nations one- child policy and because families prefer male children. China daily reports in 2012, police uncovered almost 1900 cases of child- trafficking. But, recent reforms are promising to relax the country's one- child policy which might help.

It's expected that the courts will be harsh or Shuxia and make an example of her. For TIME, I'm Jamal Andress.
